About BCMF

Billy Cunningham loved Lake Sunapee, and we loved Billy Cunningham. Gregarious, generous, and very, very funny, Billy had unique presence and energy. When he passed away in 2015, a group of his friends came together to find a way to honor his life and celebrate his passions.

At the end of each school year, BCMF accepts scholarship applications from high school seniors and college students who demonstrate a passion for the water and an interest in marine biology, oceanography, environmental science or similar field of study. Recipients are selected by the BCMF Board of Directors every June, and use of scholarship proceeds is entirely discretionary.

The Billy Cunningham Memorial Foundation is a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving, conserving and protecting Lake Sunapee and its surrounding environs. We think Billy would have liked it.
